Don Faul
Management

"I really look forward to working in technology with consumer products that will fundamentally change the way people live their daily lives."

As children, we're all asked the question "What do you want to be when you grow up?" How did you answer?

I wanted to be a doctor when I was young.

What have been the most defining moments along your career path?

Leading a platoon of Marines in both Afghanistan and Iraq really changed my outlook on life and solidified my desire to pursue a career in general management.

How did you get your big breaks?

In the military you rely a little bit on luck and a little bit on your ability to make your own breaks. Success in the military, especially as an officer, is all about people skills. The passion you bring to your relationships pays big dividends.

What was the best advice you received when you were first starting out in your career?

My first boss called me in after a couple weeks and told me to stop trying to do everything myself. I was doing both myself and my people a huge disservice. That message really hit home and made a huge impact on my leadership and management style.

What have you learned from your experience?

That I want a career that I am passoinate about, with people that I care about. Work life balance is important to me, I want a job with a company that recognizes and appreciates that.

What most excites you about your job right now?

I'm in school right now but I really look forward to working in technology with consumer products that will fundamentally change the way people live their daily lives.

What would you like to have achieved by the last day of your career?

I'd like to be able to say that I truly enjoyed each job and each position that I held and that I made a significant impact.
