What have been the most defining moments along your career path?

During the interview process, I was amazed at how open and driven the people I met with were (Microsoft). Additionally, it became evident how much the company invests in its employees. This definitely had an impact on my decision to work at Microsoft. The biggest surprise about working at Microsoft has been the people. The passion and continual drive for improvement is infectious and makes for a very fast-paced and energetic place to work. I look forward to coming to work each day, mainly because of the people I work with.

How did you get your big breaks?

With degrees in engineering and cognitive science, I have a good balance of technical understanding and a constant drive to understand what motivates our customers. Coming out of college, especially a college like Berkeley, I also learned to question status quo. All of these attributes have held to be positive influences in the projects I have undertaken and the groups I have worked with.

What have you learned from your experience?

I traveled in Europe with my former General Manager, meeting with partners and customers. It is a true learning experience to see how we do business in other countries.

What most excites you about your job right now?

The amount of autonomy provided to each individual to make a contribution to the business is very empowering. That said, working at Microsoft is like most places; you get as much as you put in.

What would you like to have achieved by the last day of your career?

For now, I want to develop and refine a broad skill-set across marketing at Microsoft, while continuing to deliver and grow in my roles. I strive to have a deep understanding of our customers, so I seek out chances to get in touch with them and hear how they think. I'm open to the possibility of moving into an international role in the future, so I look for opportunities to expose myself to related projects.
