What have been the most defining moments along your career path?

I switched companies when I first started. I didn't enjoy my job but there was nowhere else to go. I had to move on to get ahead. I got a job with Chase and thought I would give it a try. There's a lot of diversity here. There are a lot of opportunities that they give you. The area I'm in is very young, and it's growing. A lot of opportunities are opening up for a lot of people. You don't have to stay in the same position. If you don't like what you're doing you don't have to leave Chase. You can find another job within the company. They have a job posting for you, so you can look and see what's going on out there. If my old company had that, I might have stayed.

How did you get your big breaks?

I saw a job posting and I sent in my resume.

What was the best advice you received when you were first starting out in your career?

Read Business Week, Wall St. Journal. It never hurts.

What have you learned from your experience?

You go with what's gonna make you happy. That's something that's really impressed me about my present employeer (Chase). You can stay here if that makes you happy, or go up, or move and try something else. Chase looks out for what's best for everybody.

What most excites you about your job right now?

My decisions count. They matter. I've had other jobs where you just do what you're told. In my present job, I can say I don't agree with what someone's saying. I can offer an opinion, and it's not like it's going in one ear and out the other.

What would you like to have achieved by the last day of your career?

I'm not sure. I'm happy doing what I'm doing now. If I can have more years of this, I'm good.
