Dorothy Moore
Researcher

I do experiments as directed by the laboratory principal investigator, and I perform general lab upkeep/maintenance duties too.

What have been the most defining moments along your career path?

Working at Rockefeller University has been a great career experience. They conduct interesting research. They're located in NYC and I love living there. My official title is "research assistant". I do experiments as directed by the laboratory principal investigator, and I perform general lab upkeep/maintenance duties too.

How did you get your big breaks?

Recruited from Brown. Rockefeller recruites at Brown and other top schools.

What was the best advice you received when you were first starting out in your career?

Be sincere, treat people as you would like to be treated.

What have you learned from your experience?

I'm trying to get a better sense of the University culture. They are cordial but not profoundly gregarious. I have been working long hours. It seems like any other place. If you are a friendly person, you will make friends. The 8 people in my lab are laid-back.

What most excites you about your job right now?

Getting a paycheck; being around very smart people who are true scientific professionals.
