Career Paths in Marketing

By Experience

Here are 3 areas where beginners in marketing can break into the industry.

There are many opportunities for advancement within a marketing
department, and you should be able to increase your earnings
and gain valuable experience during your first few years.
Salaries and promotion tracks vary depending on the company,
but if you perform well, you will have the opportunity to
    advance in numerous ways.

Market Research

Marketing research is concerned with the potential sales of a product or service. Market researchers analyze statistical data on past sales to predict future sales. They gather data on competitors and analyze prices, sales, and methods of marketing and distribution.

Promotion staffers are behind the incentives like coupons, samples, free gifts with purchase, rebates, and sweepstakes. Here is where you can help determine how best to both advertise your product/service and interest buyers into making a purchase.  The tools of the trade here are programs like direct mailing, telemarketing, in-store displays, product endorsements and special events.

Account Management

Account management involves following a project from the start to the finish. Account managers supervise projects, track developments, and report back to the clients. Understanding marketing principles helps an account manager plan and oversee project effectively.  Developing and building relationships between your organization and its clients is crucial.  This is an excellent career path for someone who is friendly and enjoys talking with others.
