Job Profile: Sports Club Manager

By Experience

Like the corporate center manager, the club manager oversees the day-to-day operation of the health club or gym.

He or she must coordinate the efforts of all employees and interact with the club members and potential members. Unlike the corporate center manager, however, the club manager's job is more tenuous, tied to the success or failure of attracting and keeping new members.

Education: Bachelor's degree in business or physical education/recreation.

Experience: Prior management or work in various segments of the health club/fitness industry is a plus. Also any business, financial or management experience can only help.

Resume Builders: Work with local health clubs to develop a sense of the necessary skills. Work on developing communication and organization skills. Learn the importance of interacting with customers.

Salary: Ranges from $15,000, average $30,000, to the top $50,000.Back to top
